I finally finished my FAQ page on my website! I hope that it will answer some of your frequently asked questions and give you a better idea of what it is really like to hire a Virtual Assistant. I want to take this Blog Post to elaborate on four of the questions that I think deserve further explanation and to give you a more personalized look into what it would be like to work with me.
I just need someone to keep me motivated, can a VA do that?
Yes, yes, yes! I love to motivate. In fact, I am currently serving a few business owners that have asked me to keep tabs on their progress in certain areas of their business, and to keep them motivated to reach their goals. So, what does that look like exactly? At the start of every contract, you can request informal check-ins to track your progress and hold you accountable to your goals. And if you are looking for a package that is specifically designed for accountability, then that’s my sweet spot! Together we will take some time to analyze your business, your systems, your goals and work on a plan together to keep you on track. Building a business on your own can feel lonely, so my goal is to make you feel like you are not in this alone and that you have a partner that cares about your business just as much as you do!
I’m terrified of letting go but I desperately need help, what do I do?
I get, I’m a bit of a micromanager myself! “If you want it done right, do it yourself.” Ever heard that one? You are likely clinging to that old saying and drowning in all your to-do’s, treading water and going to bed feeling like you’re not making significant progress. Here’s the thing, once you reach a point in your business that you literally don’t have any more of yourself to give, but you know the potential to grow your business is huge… then it might be a good time to hire a VA. But, guess what?! You are still in control and you still get to call the shots in your business. So, if you are a having major anxiety about giving any piece of your business to another person, let me ease your mind… I am here to make your life easier and anxiety is not something I want you to feel. I do my best to make you feel comfortable and together we will go at a pace that suits you. Here is what I suggest, START SMALL. Pick a small area of your business that you don’t enjoy, maybe something you really wish you didn’t have to deal with (email, social media, invoicing, customer service). What sucks up the time that you wish you could be dedicating elsewhere? Let’s start there!
If I hire you as my VA, would you be my personal assistant?
No. As your VA I would assist you, but I am not your personal assistant. Let me explain. When you are ready to bring me on, you should have some specific areas of your business that you want me to concentrate on. Once your needs are established a monthly package that encompasses those needs will be designed just for you. If there are other areas that you need my assistance with along the way, we can adjust the contract and invoice accordingly. As your VA I will be contracted for specific tasks or projects and work within the terms of the contract. I am not available at all hours of the day and most of our communication will be done via email. If you just need a few hours of random tasks completed, no problem. If they are within my scope of services, you can purchase an hourly retainer package and cash in (generally with a 48hr warning) when you need the help. Just note that hourly retainers do not roll over to the next month.
Is hiring a VA expensive?
That is a loaded question, because it depends on how much you value the services that you need. VA rates can range from $20-$60 an hour and those rates depend on experience level and the difficulty of the project or service. General Administrative tasks will fall in a lower price bracket, whereas website development is a more specialized service with a higher price tag. I generally offer package-based pricing and it takes away the need to track hours and gives you the peace of mind that time isn’t being wasted on your dime. Consider breaking down your package price by the day and you’ll find that the price is much more affordable than you would expect!
