Are you tired of overcomplicated business advice that leaves you spinning in circles? Let’s cut through the noise. Building a simple 6-figure business isn’t about following every shiny strategy or implementing complex systems that require a PhD to understand. It’s about focusing on the fundamentals that actually move the needle. The truth? Most business owners struggle not because they don’t know enough, but because they aren’t implementing the basics consistently. Today, I’m sharing the four non-negotiables you absolutely must have in place if you want a simple business that consistently generates six figures. And spoiler alert: none of this works if you don’t apply it.
1. Get Crystal Clear on Your Ideal Client
Stop trying to talk to everybody. I know it’s tempting to believe you can serve anyone and everyone (and maybe you technically can), but if you want a simple business making six figures every single year, you’ve got to pick a lane. Generic messaging doesn’t work. Period. Get specific about who you’re talking to – not just their demographics, but what they call themselves, where they hang out, their specific pain points, and what they want. This clarity becomes the foundation for everything else in your business – your messaging, your offers, and your marketing strategy. Without this piece firmly in place, making money in a simple, sustainable way will always feel like an uphill battle.
2. Create Scalable Offers
It’s non-negotiable to have offers that are scalable and don’t all require just you. This doesn’t mean everything needs to be a passive course or membership. I work one-on-one with clients too! But if that’s your only offer, you’ll cap your revenue and always be trading time for money. For coaches, this means building a one-to-many offer – whether that’s a membership, group program, self-study course, or digital products. For service providers offering done-for-you services or consulting, your offers need to be designed so they can be outsourced to team members.
I hear you saying, “But I’m the only one who can do this work!” That’s a lie that’s keeping you stuck. With proper training, the right hires, and you positioned in the right places of your business, you can decrease your workload by 75-80%. Nothing has to go to a client without your eyeballs on it – but that doesn’t mean you have to do every single piece of the work. The key is creating offers that are clear, simple, and have systematized processes for delivery.
3. Simplify Your Systems
Systems aren’t software – they’re how you do things. The steps you take for each bucket of your business. You need clear, simplified systems for your internal operations, client management, sales processes, and team management if you have one. Without streamlined systems, you’ll find yourself at the end of each day feeling busy but not productive.
The goal here is to create margin in your schedule. As a CEO, you should not be doing client work 90% of the time. You need substantial blocks of time for business development, creating new offers, marketing, and networking. This requires condensing your work through effective systems so you can focus on the things only your brain should be doing – the activities that actually grow your business.
4. Implement a Consistent Marketing Strategy
Your marketing strategy must do three critical things: bring in leads consistently (not just occasionally, but daily/weekly/monthly), connect with and nurture those leads, and convert them through effective selling.
For lead generation, I teach my clients a simple organic strategy that works regardless of what they’re offering. It might seem “dumb and simple” but it consistently brings in new leads with minimal time investment. Once you’ve attracted those leads, you need to nurture the relationship – just like dating, you don’t go from the first meeting straight to marriage. Finally, you need systems to promote your services and convert those nurtured leads into paying clients.
This three-step marketing system needs to run continually. It’s not something you do once when you need clients and then abandon when you’re booked up. Consistency here is absolutely key.
Building Your Simple Six-Figure Business
These four non-negotiables aren’t just theory – they’re the exact framework I’ve used to intentionally build my own six-figure business. It’s not an accident that I hit this milestone, and it didn’t happen by focusing on trendy marketing tactics or flashy strategies.
Success comes from digging into the details that others miss. When I work with clients, I find those small issues that are actually big roadblocks. If you’ve been in business for years but still struggle to break through income plateaus, I guarantee you haven’t fully implemented these four non-negotiables.
There is a method to building a simple six-figure business where you can work part-time and live the life you actually want. You’ll have to work for it and do the digging, but the path is clear.
