Today we are talking all about lead magnets and what type of lead magnet you should create for your service-based business. When you’re creating a lead magnet just for the sake of getting ideal clients onto your email list, we need to make sure that we’re doing it in an intentional and strategic way that promotes growth, creates increased sales, and creates the authority that we’re trying to build.
What offer does it support?
If the freebie itself, the lead magnet itself, isn’t supporting an offer or a product or a service that you have, we aren’t being strategic. When you start to create a lead magnet, we are thinking about the offer that we want to sell. We are putting it through this filter: “Is there a clear correlation between the content of the freebie to the offer I want to sell?”. The goal is to create something that supports the offer. And then, nurture them through an email that supports selling our offer.
You want to give people a reason to go further with you. When I create a freebie, I am giving them a big bite of something that I teach. But it’s just a portion, not the whole picture.
What will people actually download?
When it comes to freebies, we want to think about the juiciest topics or the juiciest offers, or the juiciest things that we do. And we want to utilize those as our freebie topics.
When we are creating our next lead magnet, think about what feels really digestible and clear. What topics have you taught or introduced in the past that have gotten a great response? What are people going to be like, “oh! I want that!”.? That’s juicy.
Send consistent, valuable emails
This is vitally important, so listen up! Once you do get ideal clients onto your email list, you must send consistently valuable emails to them. I say “valuable emails” because the whole point of having an email list filled with ideal clients is so that we can sell through email.
Get people used to opening your emails, clicking on your emails, and also seeing you sell in your emails. But there’s got to be consistency there. We want this to play into the big picture of our growth.
