Let’s talk about journaling. I know what you might be thinking – “I’m not good at journaling” or “I never know what to write about.” Trust me, I get it. Even as someone who coaches entrepreneurs to reach their full potential, I didn’t hit my goal of journaling daily last year. But here’s the thing: the magic isn’t in being “good” at journaling – it’s in having the right prompts that spark reflection and growth.
1. “It’s the end of the month and I’m celebrating…”
Start with celebration! This prompt is perfect for setting intentions and visualizing success. You can be specific or keep it broad – write down one thing or twenty things you want to be celebrating. There’s no wrong way to do this. The key is to let yourself dream and put those celebrations on paper.
2. “I would change these 10 things in my business if there were zero consequences”
This is where we get real. Remove all the “what-ifs” and fears, and let yourself dream big. Maybe it’s letting go of a service that no longer serves you, or perhaps it’s finally launching that course you’ve been dreaming about. The point isn’t to make all these changes immediately – it’s to uncover your deepest desires for your business.
3. “Things I wish I would be more consistent with”
Whether it’s business, personal life, health, or relationships – this prompt helps identify your growth areas. Don’t just list them; dig deeper. For each item, ask yourself why consistency has been challenging. This reflection often reveals solutions you hadn’t considered before.
4. “Describe my perfect physical health”
Your business thrives when you thrive. Get specific about what optimal health looks like for you. Maybe you’ve experienced it before, or maybe you’re dreaming it up for the first time. Either way, this vision becomes your compass for health-related decisions.
5. “Describe my perfect relationship”
Yes, this one might feel vulnerable, especially if you’re already in a relationship. But here’s the truth: your business doesn’t exist in a vacuum. Your relationships impact your energy, creativity, and ability to show up fully in your business. Allow yourself to envision what truly aligned partnership looks like for you.
6. “In 10 years, my life looks like…”
Dream big. If this feels challenging, try writing it as if you’re creating a movie script or writing about someone else’s life. Think about abundance in every category that matters to you – career, relationships, impact, lifestyle. Remember, you wouldn’t turn down winning the lottery, so why turn down dreaming about your ideal future?
7. “I’m playing it safe in these three areas”
This prompt cuts straight to the heart of what’s holding you back. Usually, something will pop into your mind immediately – don’t ignore it. Whether it’s in your business, personal life, or health journey, identifying where you’re playing it safe is the first step to making bold moves.
8. “If I knew I wouldn’t fail, I’d make this change in my business”
While similar to prompt #2, this one helps you focus on that ONE big move you’ve been hesitating to make. It might be a major pivot or transformation that feels too risky. Getting it on paper is the first step to making it reality.
9. “Where can I give myself more love and grace?”
As a business coach, my job is to push you to grow and achieve more. But we’re all human, living different experiences with different challenges. Take time to identify areas where you could be kinder to yourself. Sometimes, the biggest breakthroughs come from giving ourselves grace.
10. “How can I take better care of myself?”
Get specific here. What activities bring you joy? What makes you feel cared for? Then, take it a step further – what actions can you take to incorporate more of these elements into your daily life?
Remember, your mindset shapes your actions, and your actions create your results. These journal prompts aren’t just writing exercises – they’re tools for expanding your belief in what’s possible. Because where there’s belief, there’s hope, and where there’s hope, there’s growth.
