If 2024 is going to be your GLOW UP year, then we need to get rid of the clutter, take out the trash and let things go. Let’s dive into the steps that will actually take you to the place you want to be.
Taking inventory
A true transformation will happen when you dare to look beneath the surface, look at what didn’t work last year, take inventory of what needs to change, and then take action. There are no quick fixes here. No silver bullets. No get-rich-quick strategies.
You’ll have your best year ever when you accept full responsibility for the life and the business that you want and put your actions where your mouth is.
In these next few sections, I’m going to ask you a series of questions. If you’re serious about your 2024 Glow Up, grab a pen and paper, or open up a new document and take working through these questions seriously.
Take out the trash
- What am I unavailable for this year?
- If I could change anything about my life or business what would it be?
- What excuses (even valid ones) do I default to?
- What services do I loathe offering?
- What clients drain the life out of me?
- What promises do I want to stop breaking to myself?
- What am I afraid of?
- How am I standing in my own way?
- What is a distraction?
Rearrange and Organize
- If I could change something about the services I’m offering, what would I change?
- Where am I bleeding time that I shouldn’t be?
- Where can I get support?
- Do I love the clients that I’m working with?
- What part of my business feels chaotic or dysfunctional?
- What have I been putting off?
- What’s missing?
Room to Room
Now, traveling “room to room” through your business – where do you need to button things up, overhaul or get some help?
- Your business foundation
- Your systems
- Your online storefront
- Your messaging and content
- Your marketing strategy
- Your visibility and authority
- Your consistency and action
Your Vision
BIG VISION: This is your north star. This is where you are going and this is what drives your decision making and goal setting. This is the filter that you will run all business and life decisions through.
BUSINESS VISION: This is a broad picture of what you want your business to look like. It should line up with your big vision, yearly vision and your goals.
2024 VISION: This is a combination of your big vision and your business vision. Your yearly vision is something that you can anchor into on a much more tangible level.
Goals
The goals we set should directly connect to your 2024 vision, and in turn, that will support your big vision and your business vision.
It’s VERY important that you also make sure that you set goals that work together and that you can get behind but also stretch you a little.
Goal Categories
- Revenue
- Your monthly salary
- Clients (specific to each offer)
- Weekly time in your business
- Internal business goals
- Personal goals
Planning
Before you start planning out your year, we need to get clear on what needs to change in order to reach our goals.
Questions to ask yourself before you start planning:
- Am I adding or taking away any services?
- Do I need to do anything different in my marketing?
- Do I need to bring on help in my life or business?
- Do my time goals match my revenue and client goals?
- Are there any life events I need to take into consideration?
You need to get really specific. It’s not enough to say, I’m going to show up on social media every day or “work on my offer”. Get into the details and map out the actual tasks that need to be done. If you don’t treat these “tasks” like it’s a client call that you can’t miss, you’re not going to get anywhere. Don’t overload your month or get overly ambitious (especially if you are time poor). Showing up on one platform powerfully is better than splitting your focus between three.
Putting it into Action
Nothing, and I mean nothing changes if nothing changes. If you don’t take action, consistent action, then your vision, your goals and your plans mean nothing. Action is hard. It’s the hardest part of all of this. But having a plan that is detailed and outlined takes away the guesswork and helps you be more intentional and focused, but it won’t magically create motivation to take action.
You need to want this bad enough to take action even when you don’t feel like it. Even when it’s the last thing that you want to do. You need to practice discipline and view motivation as a bonus. Motivation usually comes from taking action, not the other way around.
