How I cut my working hours in half (without cutting my revenue in half)

Today we are going to be chatting about how I’ve been able to maintain six figures in revenue every single year for the past four years, AND only work part-time hours. I want to talk you through the process of how I’ve been able to do this. This will be especially helpful for you if you have an established business, you’re a service pro, or you’re a coach and making six figures a year consistently and you have a specific goal about cutting back on those work hours.

How it started

I started my business over five years ago as a virtual assistant with zero experience of how the online business space worked. My goal was just to get to a place where I was covering our mortgage. My business grew very quickly and I surpassed my husband’s corporate salary within nine months. I loved every bit of my business, specifically the opportunities where I was able to strategize and coach. At that point, I started pivoting towards more of a business and marketing coach to my clients.

Feeling overwhelmed

For a while, I was selling a lot of different things all at the time. I had a wall calendar that went across my entire wall. It was exhausting. I was launching constantly in a way that it just was not sustainable, but I was making six figures in revenue, so it felt like  I was winning. I loved it and it was fulfilling, but I reached a point where I was definitely experiencing some burnout. So, I started thinking about all the different ways that I was going to have to cut back in my business.

Making decisions

I did a ton of soul searching, I reached out to my mentor at the time, talked to different trusted people on my team, and strategized with my husband. I knew that I had to cut back on my hours, that was non-negotiable, but I was not going to lose a single dime.

The only way that it made sense was to simplify.

I want you to get behind the belief that you really can create a business that you love. A business that generates consistent revenue and is also steady and sustainable.

Get support

So in the midst of my freak out, thankfully, I had support. It’s so important to have support in your business and to have people that you can reach out to when poop hits the fan because it was that support and those people who kept me grounded in all of this and reminded me that the world wasn’t ending and everything was going to be OK.

Getting clear on vision and goals

You really have to know what you want. Your vision has to be clear. And it’s not just the vision for your business. It is the vision for your life. You don’t have to have this big life’s vision, but you do need to have a good understanding of where you’re headed and maybe for the next three to five years.

My main goal was to work less and keep growing while keeping things simple. It was the filter that I put everything through. So every time I made a decision, I asked myself, does it support that vision? Does it support those goals? Is it simple? That was a huge part of my success in this venture of cutting my work time and hours and keeping my revenue. But once that was clear, then everything else started to fall in place.

Refining my business

I started restructuring and refining everything. Think of your business as a house with a bunch of rooms. I went from room to room and I restructured and refined and I tweaked, putting everything through these questions: Is this simplifying this? Is this supporting me in keeping things sustainable? Can I keep this up? Can I continue to make money this way?

I restructured and refined offers, prices, my target market, my ideal client, my messaging, and my online storefront. I also made sure that my foundation was rock solid.

Since then, I’ve continued to hit six figures in revenue and my working hours are between 20 and 25 hours a week. And guess what? My business has not suffered. I continue to hit my goals, and my numbers every year.

You can decide TODAY that today is the day where you intentionally start creating this type of business for yourself. I’m talking about a business that doesn’t drain the life out of you. The type of business where you can take the day off and the world doesn’t end. You can find all the nitty gritty details of how I achieved this inside Grow Business and Marketing Academy program where I offer a six month option and a 12 month option of support. This is exactly what you need and that you’ve been waiting for. Reach out to me if you’ve got questions. I’m excited to work with you.
