Let me be real with you: I’m not here to tell you that being multi-passionate is wrong. But I am here to tell you that splitting your focus when you’re already stretched thin is costing you money. And I don’t want you to make less money—I want you to make MORE money.
Here’s what I’ve noticed after coaching in this space for years: the people who successfully run multi-passionate businesses under one big umbrella brand usually have simplified lives. They’re often not married, definitely don’t have kids, and have serious financial backing. That’s great for them, truly. But if that’s not your reality? We need to talk.
The Math Doesn’t Math
As creatives, we’re naturally drawn to shiny new ideas. There are SO many cool ways to make money online, and they’re everywhere. But here’s the truth bomb: almost everything requires time, energy, and marketing. Whether it’s a membership, group program, retreat, or yes—even an MLM—it all demands resources you might not have.
I’ve watched clients ignore my advice and try to chase multiple things at once. Want to know how many times it worked? Zero. Not once. And I’m not saying this to be right—I’m saying it because the numbers don’t lie.
The Sneaky Ways We Split Our Focus
It’s not always about chasing obvious silver bullets. Sometimes it’s the subtle additions that derail us:
“What if I added a membership?” “What if I launched a group program?” “What if I hosted a retreat?”
These might be great ideas—for later. But right now? They’re often a distraction from what’s already making you money. Or worse, they become the “solution” when you’re not making money yet, when really you just need to focus on the ONE thing you’re already trying to build.
Put It in Your Back Pocket, Babe
I tell my clients this constantly: put that idea in your back pocket. Create a “Back Pocket Ideas” doc and throw it in there. It’s probably a brilliant idea—just not a brilliant idea for you RIGHT NOW.
If you’re still thinking about it in a month, six months, or a year? Then let’s revisit it. But for now, that idea needs to marinate while you focus on what’s in front of you.
The Reality of Split Focus
Here’s the brutal truth: if you’re using social media to market your business and you’re trying to promote two different things, you’re going to either double your time investment or split it 50/50. And if you split it 50/50? You’re going to feel it hardcore. Most likely, it won’t be enough to grow either side of your business.
And if you try to give 100% to both? You won’t be able to sustain it.
I know this sounds like I’m being a total downer. But we only have so many hours in the day and so much emotional capacity. If you’re a mom, married, managing a household, or want any kind of life outside your business—trying to do multiple things is almost impossible.
When It Actually Makes Sense to Expand
Don’t get me wrong—there IS a time and place to add on another service or business. But that’s when you’ve built something strong enough, systematized enough, stable enough, and scalable enough that other people are doing most of the work for you.
If your business only required 20% of your time, then sure—put 80% into something new and you’d probably see results. But if you’re still deeply involved in delivery, marketing, business development, team management, and client work? Now is not that time.
I’m talking to the service providers and coaches making 5K, 10K, 15K, maybe 25K a month. That’s amazing—but I guarantee there’s a lot of effort going into maintaining that. Splitting your focus isn’t going to help you grow.
The 1% Exception
Maybe you’re the exception. Maybe you’ve got nothing but time, no major obligations, and 14 hours a day to dedicate to building. If that’s you? Go HAM. Your future self will thank you.
But even then, I’d recommend putting all that time into ONE thing first, then splitting focus once that thing is stable and scalable.
Where Your Feet Are
I recently talked to my cousin who’s always chasing multiple opportunities. He was overwhelmed, getting spotty results, and it was affecting his personal life. When he finally committed to putting things on the back burner and focusing on one thing, everything changed.
You’ve got to be where your feet are. Your brain can’t be in a million different places if you want solid results.
The Secret to Making Money Easily
Want to know the real superpower? Focus. Intention. Putting your blinders on. Saying no. Saying “not right now.” Saying “maybe later.”
I have one thread that runs through everything I teach: helping you build a simple business that hits six figures while working part-time. One signature framework. One signature membership. That doesn’t mean it’s all I talk about 24/7—it’s the thread. And honestly? Doing LESS has brought me more fulfillment than doing more ever did.
Your nervous system matters. Your stress levels matter. If you’re constantly stressed and can barely enjoy your success because you’re always chasing the next thing—what’s even the point?
The Bottom Line
Making a lot of money easily—that’s what most people want. But your actions often tell me you want to make money in a complicated way while being stressed out all the time. And it’s just not necessary.
After years of coaching, I can’t think of one person who successfully built two things at once. Not one. I can think of plenty who tried—but it didn’t work.
This might not be your season for multiple ventures. And that’s okay. You can have everything you want—it just usually comes in stages, not by overloading yourself with everything at once.
Join Grow and get the framework, support, and clarity you need to hit six figures while working part-time. This is your season to go all in on ONE thing—the right thing.
