Six figures. Part-time hours. You’ve heard that combination before, and maybe you’ve rolled your eyes at it. I get it. But I’m on my sixth year of building exactly that kind of business, and I’m not the only one doing it. Today I’m handing you the actual system behind it. Four steps. No fluff, no theory, just the framework that makes this real.
Before You Touch the Steps
You need four things in place before any system works for you, you need an expert-level skill, something people look at and think “she changed my business” or “I had no idea that was even possible.” You need discipline, the kind that shows up day after day regardless of motivation or what’s happening around you; you need a genuine desire to serve your people well, because a business built on mediocre service and poor communication eventually falls apart. And you need adaptability, because the online space keeps shifting and the people who stay in business are the ones who move with it instead of panicking every time something changes. These four traits are the foundation. The steps below only work when they’re already in place.
Step 1: Get Radical Clarity
This is not a sexy step, and it’s the one most people skip. Then they wonder why nothing else works. You need clarity on your big life vision, your business vision, who you want to serve, what you’re offering, how you’re delivering it, how much you want to make, and how many hours you want to work. Without that clarity, you’ll struggle to prioritize, struggle to build simple systems, struggle to attract the right clients, struggle to know what to charge, and struggle to sell your offers with confidence. Clarity is the starting point every other step gets built on top of.
Step 2: Build a Scalable Structure
Your offers and your delivery have to be scalable. Making six figures on part-time hours as a service provider means your offers can’t rely entirely on your one-on-one time, unless you’re pricing at a level that makes that mathematically possible for very few people. Part-time hours doesn’t just mean part-time with clients. It means part-time across your entire business, the marketing, the back end, the team leading, all of it. One-to-one and done-for-you offers are fine to keep, but you also need one-to-many options. Courses, a program, a membership, digital products, a template shop. There are more paths here than you probably realize. Without this piece, you’ll cap out no matter how good your service is.
Step 3: Set Up Real Systems
Systems are what make a business simple, scalable, and sustainable, not just the offer itself. You need internal systems, client systems, and sales systems. Internal systems keep the day-to-day running without you holding every piece together. Client systems mean you know exactly how a client moves through your process from inquiry to delivery, with clear communication the whole way. Sales systems keep leads moving without you reinventing your approach every single time. If you read that last paragraph and thought “I don’t even know what she’s talking about,” that’s the problem step three is here to fix.
Step 4: Keep Your Pipeline Full
Six figures doesn’t happen by accident. You need people actually paying you, which means a continual stream of ideal clients coming into your world. This step has three parts, and you run them all at the same time, not one after another. First, get in front of people. That means proactively finding them, not just posting and hoping. It looks like searching keywords, borrowing other people’s audiences, showing up in the right groups, or direct outreach if you work B2B. Second, nurture the people who’ve already seen you, building trust through your content and your messaging. Third, sell. You sell in tandem with nurturing, all the time, not as a separate later stage. Marketing is always the first thing to slip when life gets busy, and busy days are part of being a business owner. Protecting this step is where your discipline gets tested the most.
It’s Possible, and You Hold the Key
That’s the system. Clarity, structure, systems, and a full pipeline, all sitting on top of a real skill, real discipline, real service, and real adaptability. How long it takes you depends on the offer, your audience, and how much time you’re putting in, and I won’t pretend otherwise. But it is possible, and I’m living proof, along with the clients I work with who are doing it through coaching, services, memberships, and more.
