I’ve Been Thinking About Dying And More Random Thoughts

Look, I know this sounds heavy for a business blog, but stick with me because this realization changed everything for me—and it might just be the wake-up call your business needs.

I’ve been hit with this jarring awareness lately: I’m dying. We all are. Every single day, we’re inching closer to an end we can’t predict or control. And before you click away thinking I’ve lost it, here’s why this matters for your business: how you spend your time right now is either building the life you actually want, or it’s not. There’s no middle ground.

This hit me hard over the holidays, and it’s given me some serious clarity about what actually matters—and what doesn’t.

Money Creates Magic (Whether You Like It or Not)

Here’s something that healed a decades-old wound for me: I flew my sister and her family home for Christmas as a surprise. She’d just had a baby three months prior, and most of the family hadn’t met him yet. We weren’t planning to see them until summer.

I got to create this incredible moment—pure magic—and it was possible because of money.

Growing up in a strict religious household, I had “money is the root of all evil” running through my veins. But experiencing what money can actually do—the joy it can create, the memories it can build, the people it can bring together—was healing in a way I didn’t expect.

Money gave me the freedom to create something that mattered deeply to me and the people I love. And that freedom? I will never go back to not having it.

You’re Floating When You Should Be Flying

I watch so many people just float through life. They’re running businesses they hate, they’re stuck in relationships that drain them. They’re building something they don’t even like because they think they have to.

That sucks. It really does.

Because here’s what you need to understand: you don’t have to choose that. You have the power to make changes that will completely transform your life. You just have to be willing to make them.

I’m the type of person who wants to get to the end of my life and think, “I feel good about what I created. I’m proud of the risks I took. I went all in.” That’s how I want to feel. And I want you to feel that way too.

The Hard Truth About Building Something Worth Having

There’s this weird thing that happens when you start talking about ease and freedom in business—people think it means everything should be effortless. That’s not what I’m saying.

The beauty of life isn’t just creating ease. It’s the challenge. It’s the things that make you feel alive.

I started jujitsu last year at 37. Every day my body is sore, and I don’t even care because it makes me feel wildly capable on a physical level. It wakes me up. It reminds me what I’m capable of when I push myself.

Your business should do the same thing. Not drain you—wake you up. Not stress you out constantly—challenge you in ways that make you proud.

You’re way more powerful than you think. Humans have this incredible capacity to do remarkable things if we’d just go after what we want. But you can’t build something meaningful by playing small or staying comfortable.

Stop Building a Business You Hate

If you’re going to put in the work—and you will have to put in work—then build something you actually like. Build something that gives you financial flexibility to create the life you want. Build something that lets you show up for the people and moments that matter.

Financial flexibility gave my husband and me the ability to think outside the box. To invest differently, to give more generously. To create moments that would have been magical anyway, but became even more special because money wasn’t a barrier.

If we were living only on my husband’s salary (which is great, by the way), we’d be thinking twice about certain decisions. My business created options we didn’t have before. And those options changed everything.

This Is Your Reminder

You might not have as much time as you think.

That’s not a scare tactic. It’s just reality. And it’s one I’ve been sitting with for weeks now because it matters.

If you set resolutions for 2026 and you’re already wondering how we’re halfway through January, let this be your reminder: make this the year you actually make significant changes in your business.

Get clear on what you want. What you want your legacy to be. What you want to be doing in 10 years. How you want to be making money. What brings you joy or brings the people you love joy.

It’s all possible. It really is.

But you have to stop floating. You have to stop building something you hate, you have to stop playing small because you’re scared or because it’s comfortable or because you think you have all the time in the world.

You don’t.

I help service providers and coaches build businesses that are simple, sustainable, and scalable so they can live full, rich lives. Six figures working part-time hours isn’t a fantasy—it’s how I run my business, and it’s how my clients run theirs.

Life is worth living, not just working your life away.

99% of you reading this right now have a business that can be structured sustainably and simply. You’ll have to make changes, but the support you need is available.

If this is your year—if you’re done floating and ready to fly—join me inside Grow Business and Marketing Membership. Your first month is just $37, then $97/month with a 12-month commitment. This pricing expires in one week.
